“I sell these for $1. But this ones on me. Oh, and we’re doing a BBQ with some friends tonight and all the guesthouse peeps are welcome. My treat.” – MK, our hostel owner, as he handed us two cold beers.
We immediately knew booking a place as far away from the tourist area as possible was a fantastic decision. It was the perfect reward for 2 months in the freezing cold of the Himalayas. We took a ferry from Penang and arrived in Langkawi to one of our favorite places to call home in Asia.
After the initial goodness of getting settled in, we got a motorbike and took ourselves out to explore the beaches of this Malaysian island.
Days were filled with beach lounging, blowing through books, hanging out with good people (and kittens). A short waterfall jungle hike was refreshing, but also filled with leeches. NOT COOL.
The sunsets were spectacular, no matter where on the island you where. We chased this one down through the jungle of our backyard.
When you think you’re content and life is pretty darn good on this beach island, you’re right. But then, you decided to go island hopping. Another excellent choice, especially when you’ve got good people.
After the tour was over, we returned the mainland for a sunset beach nosh.
OMG!!! Malaysia looks gorgeous! I love the sunsets, the beaches and especially the adorable fur-balls. 🙂 I also love that you guys are making friends everywhere you go (though I’m not at all surprised). Love you and miss you bunches!
